At Official Offices: Documents and Residence Permits Resmî dairede
Phrases for the migration office, notary or bank: appointment, documents, queue number, signature. Plus the official websites to check current rules.
The rule
- Residence permit = ikamet izni. Applications are made online on e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr, the official site of the Presidency of Migration Management (Göç İdaresi). Requirements change, so always check the official website.
- Tax number = vergi numarası (issued by the tax office, vergi dairesi). You need it for a bank account, a rental contract and a phone line.
- Typical documents: pasaport — passport, biyometrik fotoğraf — biometric photo, kira sözleşmesi — rental contract, sağlık sigortası — health insurance, noter onaylı tercüme — notarized translation.
- In the queue: sıra numarası — queue number, gişe — counter, imza — signature, form doldurmak — to fill in a form.
