Although, However, Despite Karşıtlık bağlaçları

"-e rağmen" ve "ancak" anlamı: although / even though (cümle ile), despite / in spite of (isim ya da -ing ile), however (yeni cümlenin başında).

Ne zaman kullanılır?

although / even though + cümle: Although it was raining, we went out. (even though daha vurguludur)
despite / in spite of + isim ya da -ing: Despite the rain, we went out. In spite of feeling tired, she kept working.
Cümle kullanmak istersen: despite the fact that + cümle: Despite the fact that it was raining...
however iki ayrı cümleyi bağlar; noktadan ya da noktalı virgülden sonra gelir, ardından virgül alır: The flat is small. However, it's very cheap.
but ile aynı anlamdadır ama daha resmîdir.

although	Although + özne + fiil, ...	Although he's rich, he's unhappy.
despite	Despite + isim / -ing	Despite his money, he's unhappy.
in spite of	In spite of + isim / -ing	In spite of being rich, ...
however	Cümle. However, cümle.	He's rich. However, he's unhappy.

Despite the traffic, we arrived on time.Trafiğe rağmen zamanında vardık.
In spite of having a cold, he went to work.Soğuk algınlığına rağmen işe gitti.

Even though she's 80, she still swims every day.80 yaşında olmasına rağmen hâlâ her gün yüzüyor.

✗ Despite it was raining, we went out.✓ Although it was raining, we went out. / Despite the rain, ...Despite'tan sonra cümle gelmez.
✗ Despite of the rain...✓ Despite the rain... / In spite of the rain...Despite of diye bir yapı yoktur.
✗ Although it was late, but we stayed.✓ Although it was late, we stayed.Although ve but birlikte kullanılmaz.
